Lund Hagem Architects is an architecture and urban design practice based in Oslo. Lund Hagen Architects was founded by Svein Lund and Einar Hagem in 1990. Today the studio is based in Tjuholmen, Oslo and the practice is managed by the four partners; Svein Lund, Einar Hagem, Mette Røsbekk, Per Suul and Kristine Strøm-Gundersen. The practice works on a wide range of cultural, residential and commercial projects. The office provides architectural and urban design services for both the public and private sectors. The diverse portfolio includes private villas, leisure homes, galleries, library, apartments, hotels, offices, educational facilities, commercial facilities and urban masterplans. Lund Hagem architects have won numerous prestigious competitions and received a number of awards and citations for design excellence. The practice gained international recognition for winning the first prize of Deichmanaksen, an international competition for the Oslo city library in 2009. The work of the practice has been widely published in Norway as well as internationally. Philosophy The practice has been driven by a consistent approach following a Nordic design tradition. All projects are informed by a sensitive approach to the surrounding landscape or the urban context. Over the past two decades, Lund Hagem has realized a number of private villas and leisure cabins in Norway. Through these small scale projects, the practice has built up a strong architectural philosophy. Architecture should have an affinitive relationship with the surrounding context, embracing the true beauty of nature.
