Miko has developed, patented and marketed a heavy duty magnetic tarpaulin. Miko Plaster ® which provides for routine operations a temporary watertight seal over hull openings such as sea-chests, water inlets and -outlets -as well as emergency response to damage resulting from collisions and groundings. In brief it provides a means of keeping oil inside and water outside. Qualified by Det Norske Veritas, Miko Marine AS has already supplied more than 150 different customers for the following purposes: Routine afloat survey & repair (Alternative to dry-docking) Emergency marine salvage and wreck removal Oil-spill pollution limitation.Miko Plaster ® characterised by its ease of provision and its ready application has been successfully used, as a vital tool during salvage and wreck removal operations following collision and grounding incidents. Miko Plaster ® is provided for closing sea-chests on a storage tanker in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. In this case where diving operations are not permitted, the Miko Plaster ® is installed by using a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV).Our supervisors and technical staff have valuable experience in how to utilise the individual features of strong magnetism in a rubber matting combined with recent fiber technology.
